Brian McGowan, B.Sc., M.B.A.

Brian McGowan has been a senior research associate with CS/RESORS Consulting since 1993. He has been a management consultant for 20 years, having worked for a national firm in Ontario before moving to British Columbia in 1992. Mr. McGowan has extensive experience in program evaluation. Because he holds an M.B.A., he brings to our team an invaluable expertise in the assessment of financial aspects of programming.

Much of the work of CS/RESORS Consulting deals with employment-related issues. We have conducted studies of labour market trends, employment needs assessments, training needs assessments, and evaluations of job training programs. In all of these projects Mr. McGowan plays a number of roles. He is a strong methodologist and is very much engaged in project design. He carries out significant parts of data collection, whether through interviews, document reviews, or assessments of program financial data. He analyses qualitative or quantitative data and he usually shares the responsibility for writing with Dr. Stephenson.

Along with his strengths in methodology and his skills in implementing projects, Mr. McGowan has dealt with a very wide range of substantive issues over his professional life. These have included forestry practices, occupational health and safety, job training programming, aboriginal community economic development, and tourism.

Such depth of experience and rigorous analytical skills greatly enhance the capacities of CS/RESORS Consulting in meeting the needs of a very diverse group of clients.
